Well, hello there!
I’m Ashley. Human person, mother, wife and founder of Wordcraft Studio (amongst a myriad of other wacky and wonderful things you can hear about when we work together!).
I began telling stories from a young age, both on the page and on stage, screen and in various cartoon forms (you can ask me about it).
Engaging audiences and forging connections with words and stories that are relatable, authentic and speak in a way that makes people want to listen is sort of my jam. While I spoke, sang, danced and told stories throughout my early years outside of school, inside the classroom with pen and paper in hand (yep, this was before tablets and laptops were a staple in class) I wrote. A lot. Put it this way, I had an English teacher tell me I didn’t need to write so much in my essays...
While I studied Theatre and Drama in university, my passion for storytelling crossed creative lines and I found myself writing more and more. Writing because I loved it, writing because the words needed to come out, writing because damn - I was good at it and could do it as a JOB! What?!
So. I did.

Life, values and finding the joy
I’m living the high life as a working mum, wife and creative human woman in Melbourne. So’s you know more about who the heck you’re leaving your brand baby with, I didn’t always live in Australia. I’m originally from the ‘burbs of Toronto, Canada and fell in love with an Aussie boy in Los Angeles, California. We had a beautiful baby boy (who now owns 3 passports) and stuck our roots in over on this side of the globe, dragging our gray cat along with us.
Yoga, exercise (that is not the gym) and nature are my absolutely necessary escape to make my brain, body and soul feel better when I’m feeling stressed or overworked. My family and I try to run off into the sunshine and stick sand between our toes whenever we get the chance. I still work in theatre on the side through my theatre company, Salty Theatre, to nurture my other creative passion. I’m in constant awe of how freakin’ smart, inspiring and hilarious children (read: my child) are and watching sci-fi and Norwegian noir with my hubs before we hit the hay brings me great (dorky) joy.
As a copywriter and creative, my happy place lies in fostering growth, self-care and empowering small businesses and creative entrepreneurs to be the best version of themselves as they share their work and offerings with their clients and community. Those moments that help inspire others to be great, feel confident and more wholeheartedly invested in their own growth are so very fulfilling!
For me, it’s all about family, growth, kindness and finding your happy.

Thanks to Ash for the extremely constructive branding consultation for my creative business! I’ve been struggling with what kind of content to share and the confidence to even post. Ash really broke down all the areas for me! What types of posts are aligned to my brand, what does my brand stand for, how can I give value to my target audience. It’s very clear that because of Ash’s experience working with both service and product-based business, she has so much knowledge to share from different perspectives. Not only does she get it, she’s also such a supportive person who really cares! Cannot recommend her highly enough for any creative entrepreneur wanting to improve their online presence. Thank you Wordcraft Studio!!!

It's my job as a copywriter and as founder of Wordcraft Studio to help you find the words that make an impact
As I’ve worked to strategise, create and develop brand voices around the world, I’ve learned way more than I ever imagined along the way ─ about a range of wellness and wellbeing therapies, photography, taxes and automation, beauty, art, business coaching and law for creative entrepreneurs…engaging with these brands that embrace their values. Their unique. Their awesome. Their purpose.
It’s been a joy and inspiration to work alongside an eclectic list of clients. They’ve not only allowed me to flex my copywriting muscles on the daily and get paid to do something I love, but they’ve taught me about who they are, what they offer and why their brand needs to be shared. And I feel so lucky to be the one to help them share it.
With over 7 years of professional copywriting experience under my belt, I've seen firsthand how consistent, uniquely voiced and values-driven copy can help shift a small business from one that's scraping by for any client or customer to one that authentically connects with your dream humans.
This in turn helps your work become more purposeful, more inspired and carries much greater potential for growth because customers can truly relate and believe in what you're offering ─ because you believe in what you're offering!
I’ve had the enormous pleasure of freelance copywriting with amazing companies that have supported brands and businesses across Australia, Canada, America and in Europe.
